The answer is no. We went to see an allergist a couple weeks ago. We had been waiting for the appointment for 2 months, I really thought this was going to be it. We were going to find out exactly what he was allergic to and we would just avoid those foods and our problems would be solved, but nope. They did a skin test, it was not bad at all! I thought it was going to be horrible so I am glad we didn't have to put Jack through much to find out nothing. All they do is dip this little plastic thing in some solution with milk or egg or soy or wheat etc. and they kind of scrape the skin. The Dr did it to me first with just some alcohol so I could see what it feels like and it's not even a pinch. I am glad he is not allergic don't get me wrong there. We are definitely getting out of something that could be really serious. The allergist sent me away telling me to go back to my pediatrician so we could try something else. I am glad it didn't turn out to be celiac disease when they tested a few months ago! So the next thing it could be is his digestive system. He just isn’t digesting things well. And it doesn't seem to be just milk, sometimes it's things with noodles and soy, and who knows what else. I just wish we knew exactly what foods to avoid so he could just be comfortable rather then having to deal with a sore bum from diarrhea or a rash. Which is the part that is unexplainable. Why is he getting rashes? Is that something totally unrelated? I want to cry. My poor baby boy :( I wish I could just make it all go away! He had pizza the other day and he had diarrhea for about 24-48 hours after so there was definitely something wrong there.
I talked to the pediatrician the other day and he said we are going to just watch him. I have started giving him cows milk and he seemed to do OK for a few days but now he is having acid poop again. It seems to come and go so it's hard to narrow it down to exactly what is doing it. He has his 2 year check up in about a month so we can reevaluate his growth and such. The good news is his brain growth has never been compromised just his height and weight. But when we went in about a month ago with ear infections the Dr said he was back up in the 40% which is about where he was before his drop to 11% at 1 year. So I feel better about that. The Dr also said it may be just toddler diarrhea...he said it's just where the kidneys can't handle all the fluids they are taking in. So maybe I am just giving him too much to drink? He does drink a lot...
