MJ's Treatment

MaryJane had her appointment yesterday with the orthopedic Dr. We were there for over 2.5 hours so it was a long day. They started with a new round of X-rays. When the Dr. measured the angle of the hip socket it's at around 33 and he likes to see it under 30 at her age. Everything else with her hips are doing perfect. He said she is developing wonderfully otherwise. Being that the numbers were a little off he gave us a brace for her to wear at night only. It just positions her hips in the best way for development. She will wear the brace for 3 months, then we will go back in for more X-rays to makes sure things are coming along. The Dr. said if he saw this in a 2 or 3 month old he wouldn't have treated it at all so it is very minor. He doesn't see any reason for her not to do well. We thought we were going to be in for a few rough nights but she really doesn't mind it. She wanted to get out of it ASAP this morning but she didn't wake up at all through the night. I am very pleased with the time the Dr. put in to asses her. He doesn't think she has any neurological problems at all, and she should start trying to crawl and walk before we know it. So we are very relieved and happy to hear that! :0) We are going to go to DDI advantage to learn some exercises to do with her to get her on target. I always thought girls did things quicker than boys but not in our case. I guess she just doesn't want to...
