After going to Gage's first T ball meeting last Saturday (He starts April 27th, Games are every Tuesday and Saturday) Dave and I let the kids play at the park. It didn't take long before someone got hurt. We didn't see it happen but judging from where he was Jackson was trying to cross a chain bridge. It looked like he fell through one of the gaps smacking his face on the edge of the platform that was a little taller than he was. He wasn't really crying at first so we didn't realize there was a problem until the little girls that were playing by him yelled that he was bleeding. We couldn't see much because there was so much blood. There were some very nice people there with their families that gave us some napkins and water to wash up a bit. We knew right away it was stitches! When he fell he scraped up his chin forcing his top teeth into his bottom lip and messing up his gums. We were surprised his tooth didn't go straight through, it was that close. We dropped off Gage and MaryJane at my sister's and headed to Primaries. I LOVE that hospital! They are always so good. It was a drive to get there but worth it! Luckily we didn't have to wait at all to get in. The whole trip from the time he got hurt (around 12:30) till we left was about 3 hours. He ended up with a couple stitches just to make it not so gaping being that it was hanging out of his mouth from being so swollen. Normally they wouldn't suture cuts in the mouth. They had to sedate him to do the procedure. He didn't like them shooting it up his nose but he did better than I had thought while the NP stitched him up. The sedation doesn't put him to sleep it only calmed him down. He did really good! They gave him a pop cycle and juice box and sent us on our way. We are supposed to go see a dentist to make sure his teeth are OK but they were not loose and the color looks good even though his gums are black and blue I think he's going to be fine. The worse part of the whole thing was his reaction to the sedation when it started wearing off. It was actually quite comical watching him try to walk and talk and he was in a wonderful mood! Then 1 thing went wrong, he dropped a noodle on the floor from his mac n cheese and I threw it away, he flipped out! For the next hour he was inconsolable and just mean! He still wasn't able to walk without falling over but he wouldn't let anyone hold him. He was kicking, pinching, and screaming. We finally got him to take a nap and he was fine even though his lip had now grown to the size of a large grape. I am surprised the stitches lasted as long as they did. I thought he would pick them out before he could feel his lip again. He was actually really happy to have the stitches. I think on the way to the hospital he was more concerned that his lip was wide open than it hurt. On our way home he kept saying, "they fixed it, all better, yay!" and clapped. It was cute. He complains about it hurting now and I am sure it does! I have had many canker sores myself! He's a trooper! :)
